Your details go to an independent, insured storm shelter installer covering your address. They will arrange a site visit to look at the slab, the lot, the ground and the access, and price the job from what they find. You deal with them directly from that point on.

What to have ready

• Where you are. The town at minimum — ground conditions and county rebate coverage both matter.
• How many people. Capacity tiers are the biggest single lever on price.
• Slab or pier-and-beam. Most Big Country homes are slab-built; it changes the options if yours is not.
• Anyone with mobility limits. This often decides above-ground versus in-ground before anything else does.
• Whether you want the rebate. If yes, the application goes in before the install is scheduled — say so up front and the sequence gets built around it.
